The survey on rare timber-use tree species in Fengkai County of Gongdong Province was carried out. The survey results showed that the county has a total of 28 species, 20 genus in 15 families of rare timber-use tree species. Among them, 5 families, 6 genus and 6 species of Pteridophytes; 10 families, 14 genus and 22 species of Angiospermae were identified. There are 21 species for the first-class wood ,4 redwood species and 1 special-use species; 3 species under first-grade nation-level protection and 5 species under second-grade nation-level protection.The resources distribution was analyzed and economic valuation was assessed. Some suggestions on developing the rare timber-species were presented.
