文章研究了比较植物生态地理学的意义和内容，探讨了这门学科今后的发展方向和问题。特别指出雨型是植物地理区划的重要因素，以及如何通过地区比较找出潜在植被和潜在物种，对植物引种驯化与良种推广具有先导意义。

Abstract: |
|
This paper discussed the significance and content of comparative phytoecolgeography, and the development and questions of this new subject. It especially indicated that (1) rainfall pattern played a very important role in phyto-geographical zoning; and (2) based upon the zoning and its comparisons, we could find out the potential vegetation and pot species among the regions of similar rainfall pattern. This work is a guide of plant introduction and domestication, as well as the popularization of improved variety. We will discuss these applications of the subject in another paper later.
